The more energetic tracks have more transients - so you'll hear more shakers, more hi-hats, more white-noise (like whooshes in EDM). We realized this in 2007 and filed a patent on splitting audio into separate bands and analyzing each one separately. If you do this on the dance floor, it'll remove some of the energy. If you take your EQ High knob on your mixer and turn it all the way down, you'll hear the Mids and the Bass, but all your Highs will be muffled.
